Raul Rodriguez - World Acro Star joins with the genius of Nova's designer, Hannes Papesh to create a whole new range of wings with Nova - Raul Rodriguez Acro Wings. Raul knew most of the Acro wings on the market and then flew the Nova Insect - Nova's small Acro prototype. He said - "the wing was sensational and no one knew about it! So we will now collaborate and create a special Acro Paragliding brand - I'm very excited" In the coming months will be released Raul's special wings, designed by Nova, tested and tuned by Raul. Acro wings for all levels including certified beginner versions and a special small high wind and fun Acro wing. Alan Wins North Island Cross Country League 07/08 |
This has been a Summer to talk about. It has been the most outrageous season for thermalling and cross country flying ever! The biggest drought for 30 years created thermalling conditions like Australia gets, and without even trying Alan got more beautiful long flights than ever this season, and again, secured the title winning the North Island Cross Country League, which he has won most years since it's inception. |

Often we would arrive on the hill late after a leisurely morning relaxing on the lake and this day was no different. We arrived on the hill to find the wind coming from over the back and a couple of hangies convinced that it was unlaunchable. At 2.30pm Alan picked a moment when the back wind stopped and launched with very low expectations - I actually thought I would be picking him up from the landing paddock below in no time - but a couple of lee side thermals later he was heading toward cloudbase - and who would have thought I'd pick him up 5hrs later from Turangi having set a new Paeroas site record - 73kms straight line distance taking a route to the North of Taupo, and enjoying stunning views all the way! |

It was a lovely afternoon last Sunday - the wind was a lovely strength and off to the NW, but we had a couple of hours, so we thought - why don't we go out to Kario and see if the conditions are good for a little bit of motor flying? Well, as it turned out, it was perfect and Alan had a great flight for about an hour. At the risk of sounding sappy - after the flight, we lay in the van, dined on cheese and crackers, drank wine and watched the sun set - a great end to a great day!

December 2007 The North Island is in the grip of astonishing thermalling and cross country conditions at the moment! Alan hasn't seen it so good for many years. His last 4 XC launches resulted in three 50km flights - make the most of it - it doesn't get better than this! This early drought is great for thermalling - unfortunately it may have just broken with the rain this week! Hope you all have great flights over Christmas and the New Year!
